Evan Allen Trio

Kicking off our 2024 season are Evan Allen (piano), JD Haenni (bass), and Peter Moffett (drums) in celebration of Duke Ellington's 125th and Max Roach's 100th birthdays. The three will present the album Ellington and Roach recorded with the great Charles Mingus, Money Jungle.

Our friends at Shacksbury Cider will be in attendance providing a tasting of their award-winning lineup.

Vermont's own professional chamber choir, Counterpoint, makes its OCMF debut at the historic Salisbury Meetinghouse presenting the works of Johannes Brahms, Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, Béla Bartók, and a selection of Beethoven's Scottish Songs.

Champlain Trio

Our dear friends of Champlain Trio return to the Barn Opera House to present a program of all women composers. Works by Lili Boulanger and Hélène Lieberman accompany that of Dora Pejačevič, which is featured on the Trio's 2022 debut album.

Castle Of Our Skins

Known for bringing “an endlessly curious and almost archaeological mind to their programming” (The New York Times), Castle of our Skins is a Black arts institution that centers Black arts, culture, and history. Their program "At Home" marks their OCMF debut, honoring Clemmons Family Farm's legacy as one of the rare African-American owned farms from the civil rights era. Castle of our Skins will perform string quartets by Black composers, including Daniel Bernard Roumain, Shelley Washington, William Grant Still, Fred Onovwerosuoke, and Adolphus Hailstork.

Michael Arnowitt, Piano

A pianist with “an exquisite sense of touch, color, and musical imagination” (Washington Post), Michael Arnowitt makes his Festival debut performing the works of Chopin, Ravel, and contemporary works by Canadian composer John Kameel Farah and Ukrainian composer Victoria Poleva. The afternoon ends with Beethoven's sublime 32nd piano sonata, opus 111.

Free admission provided for all MCMC students.

Patrick Fitzsimmons

A finalist in several national songwriting competitions, including Just Plain Folks, Solarfest, and Ploughshares, local Vermonter Patrick Fitzsimmons has opened for the likes of Bob Dylan, David Crosby, and Dave Matthews Band. He makes his OCMF debut performing covers and originals of great Americana.

Helen Lyons &
Elaine Greenfield

Formidable local Vermont artists Helen Lyons (soprano) and Elaine Greenfield (piano) remount their January 2024 song recital program of all women composers, including Florence Price, Lili Boulanger, Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn, Margaret Bonds, and the lesser known 19th century French composer Pauline Viardot-Garcia.
